Fellpflege

Regular grooming is important for wolfspitz breeds!

You should start brushing your dog daily when it is still a puppy, on the one hand to get him used to being brushed and on the other hand to protect his fluffy puppy fur from matting.

Regular claw and tooth care are also important topics even in puppyhood, because once the puppy has learned that claw scissors, claw grinders or toothbrushes do not pose a particular threat, it will be easy for its owner to care for it even when it is an adult.

If you neglect regular coat, claw or dental care when your dog is a puppy, the adult dog will probably only undergo such procedures with reluctance.

A Keeshond does not need a grooming salon. When the dog is fully grown, it is enough to brush it thoroughly once a week. Trimming or cutting the fur should also be avoided, as this only destroys the Keeshond's natural beauty. If you cannot or do not want to spend the time combing, you should consider getting a different breed of dog.

The Keeshond does not need to be bathed all the time. Its fur is sufficiently dirt and dust repellent. In general, most Keeshonds are rather afraid of water and do not like bathing at all. This trait can be an advantage when going for a walk, because our dogs would rather run around puddles than get wet paws.
